Why use the API type A instead of the API type C?
Jiangsu Jiali Hoisting Machinery Manufacturing Co.,Ltd we truly believe that a box boom design is to be preferred over a type C crane with a grid boom and A-frame, mainly because:
    1. A box boom construction is simpler, there are fewer critical welds, the materials used can be stronger and it can be more corrosion resistant than the API type C crane.
    2. The load is held by hydraulic actuators (cylinders) which are very rugged and simple in their design which makes failures exceptionally rare. A type C crane contains wire ropes, winches, planetary gears, hydraulic motors, spring applied disc brakes etc. which if anyone of these components fail can lead to disaster.
    3. Maintenance of a box boom crane is considerable easier as there are fewer exposed components and the system is much simpler, which decreases the maintenance cost and downtime of the crane.
    4. A box boom crane takes up much less space as it does not have an A-Frame.
    5. The energy in the boom hoist wire rope in type C cranes has been known to cause the cranes to tilt backwards. This happens when a heavy load is suddenly released and the energy in the wire rope pulls back the boom. This type of accident can not occur on a box boom crane.
    6. The K-Value for our cranes is very low, which is favorable for sea-stage operations.
All in all we believe a box type crane is preferred as it increases the safety and reliability while significantly reducing the costs.

Additional advantages of the HERKULES Box Boom crane design:
    1. The whole structure is made as light as possible by the use of extra high strength steel, and advanced design optimization. This ensures that the environment is affected as little as possible, because the amount of raw material is low. Further more, in operation the crane will require less energy to move as the inertia of the structure is low and this will also lessen the forces exerted on the platform. As a consequence, the fuel consumption will also decrease as will the wear and tear on parts, so that the crane requires very little maintenance.
    1. The crane boom is made of special weather resistant extra high strength steel, which will corrode much less than normal steel, for instance if the paint is torn off, and the steel is directly exposed.
    1. The elevation of the HERKULES box-boom crane booms is able to elevate 88 degrees from horizontal and make the minimum radius very short. For some platforms this is also a huge advantage when hoisting drilling pipes as the boom does not interfere with the operation, making it more safe, and reduces the cost.
Jiangsu Jiali Hoisting Machinery Manufacturing Co.,Ltd our core competence embraces close collaboration with our clients, making customer specific products that is based on over 40 years of experience with designing and producing high quality hydraulic cranes. We believe that this combination of our own experience along with focus on our customers’ specific needs creates the foundation of maximum customer satisfaction.

  • Electric Chain Hoists Help with the Work

Posted on June 10th, 2009 admin No comments

The basic elements that must be considered in the selection of an electric chain hoist is straight forward. The capacity should be based on the maximum weight of the loads to be handled. The height of the lift is determined as a component of the height at which the unit is to be mounted and the actual travel that is required. Naturally, if the hook is to go into a pit, or below ground, then the amount of chain on the hoist will have to increased. Three phase is the recommended power for most industrial applications.
Single phase power ia available, but is restricted to light duty and to usually single speed applications. The motors are not as efficient as those available in three phase power and therefore, cannot stand up to operations with high or constant repetitive lifts. They also consume more electricity.
The duty rating for the hoisting applications is a critical matter. To make the proper selection the following questions need to be considered:
    1) The average weight that is to be handled 2) The average movement in feet (lift and lowered) 3)The frequency of movement, with emphasis on the periods of inactivity between movements.

This information will permit an experienced technician to make a reasonable selection for the proper hoisting unit for the application. These details should reduce the chances for motor burnout or bearing failure. Hoist are normally designed for industrial operations that call for moderate speeds of ten to twenty fpm and lifts of ten to fifteen feet, although, a much greater variety of speeds and lifts are available.
Lubrication of the chain may considerably lengthen the life of the chain and the sprocket mechanism. Be aware, however, that over lubricating may cause dirt and other contaminants to accumulate and can adversely affect the longevity of the components.
The experience of the representative with whom you are dealing can be the most critical factor that determines if you will or will not have problems with the materials handling equipment you intend to purchase. So choose your source wisely.

  • Replacing an Engine

If you are contemplating replacing an engine there are few things to consider. First, identify the exact problem with the current engine. Determine if the transmission and Hoist motor starter will need to be replaced. If the engine has been run without oil or water; or if it is smoking excessively then the engine will probably need to be changed out. If the problem is confined to the engine then the transmission may not need to be replaced. However, if the vehicle has an automatic transmission and the engine has been run without water then the transmission may have been damaged as well. This is because the transmission fluid in an automatic transmission is cooled by the radiator also. The items needed to change out an engine include gloves, power tools, an engine hoist, and of course the replacement engine. Once the correct tools have been assembled and the replacement engine is on hand, the old engine is now ready to come out. The first step is to disconnect the battery cables, beginning with the negative cable. Proceed to the next step by taking off the all accessible parts connected to the engine.Be sure to tag each part and note their placement on a piece of paper. Now it’s time to drain the radiator and remove any coolant and heater hoses from the radiator and then remove the radiator. Next remove the ac compressor and accessories. The alternator is removed next by taking out the bolts and disconnecting it from the battery.

The power steering pump is unbolted and removed next. At this point it’s time to drain any fluids out of the engine and unbolt the motor mounts. Be sure to check the motor mounts for excessive wear at this time. If you are not changing out the transmission then unbolt it from the engine. Attach the engine to the engine hoist and remove it from the car. The engine may need to be tilted slightly to attain clearance from the firewall. Once the old engine has been removed and stored in a secure location, now is a good time to clean and paint the engine compartment if so desired. The replacement engine is now ready to be installed. Trolley motor the replacement engine and place it into the engine compartment. Start replacing all removed parts, going in reverse order. Connect the replacement engine to the transmission, being sure to check the fluid levels in the transmission. Replace the oil in the newly installed engine. Once all components have been reattached to the engine, it’s time to crank up the vehicle. Let the engine warm up and now it’s ready for its first test drive. Replacing an engine can be a challenging task but with the proper tools and preparation, it can save money and enable the car owner to enjoy his vehicle for years to come.
